Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, also known as Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed as the label's first female artist for Dreamville Records by J. Cole. Her debut EP Pho, released on October 21 2016, was released by Dreamville Records. The singer began to earn recognition. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio album came out on May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox first posted music online in 2012. The singer released her debut album Ariography as well as her debut mixtape in 2013 five Finger Discount. In 2014, she continued to release her music on the web, including her own released single Bound. In 2015, she appeared on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on Sweat it out on July 21st. J. Cole was interested by her talent and was looking to use it with Rihanna. On December 28, 2008 it was revealed that Rihanna had been signed with Dreamville Records. She was featured on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II on the track Backseat with Cozz. In October 2016, she released her first EP Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and was an opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in the year 2017. In 2018 she went on to appear on two songs with her label-mates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox's first album Shea Butter Baby was released on the 16th of July, 2018. The album's first single, Whipped Cream The album's first single, Whipped Cream came out September 5, 2018 with an accompanying music video. On November 9 she released two additional singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. Then, on November 13 she dropped two more singles, titled The No One and Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang together with Cole on the soundtrack to Creed II on 16 November. It then came out as a single on its own in February 2019, to coincide with her debut album. The song, made available with a video uploaded to YouTube 20 February 2019 was watched more than 3 million times in the first 7 days. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK in their From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December 2018.
